When I was a teenager a labour contractor (who?) brought migrant workers to help with the corn harvesting season in Calumet-Dutch (later Dean Foods, I think) in Cedar Grove, Wisconsin. For a while they came from East St. Louis. I am a little ashamed that the local community did very little (I certain did little) to accept these folks. I remember showing Moody Bible Institute science films. But, remarkably, on Sunday the migrant workers would play baseball at the local field but strict rules about 'observing the Sabbath [Sunday]' kept local church-goers from joining them.
